You know you need a ramp for your home and on-the-go, but how do you know you are making the right choice?
To help you with this process, we’ve compiled a home and needs assessment that can help guide you to find the best portable ramp solution that will meet your specific needs!
1. Do you need a portable ramp?
Portable ramps benefit individuals who rely on their mobility device and need a ramp that can quickly be set in place, used, then picked up and taken anywhere to eliminate barriers wherever life takes them, even if it’s just down the driveway to check the mail.
Do you have a ramp that allows you to safely and easily get in to and out of your home that may have a step at the entrance to navigate?
If not, a portable ramp could be a great way to help you eliminate any sort of hassle or hazard that comes with trying to get past that elevated area with a mobility device.
Do you have a ramp that you can take to frequent and necessary destinations such as the doctor’s office and the grocery store?
If not, it sounds like you may need a portable ramp to help eliminate barriers that you could encounter around town. Lucky for you, you’re in the right place! Skip to section two to determine what type of portable ramp you need.
Is your current ramp lightweight, easy to carry, and compact for storing in your car?
If not, it may be time for a new one. EZ-ACCESS portable ramps are made from aluminum which makes them extremely lightweight. They are comfortable to carry with the ergonomic handles on each ramp and they fold nicely to fit in your car! Read on to figure out which portable ramp is best for you.
2. Choosing the right portable ramp for you.
Now it’s time to decide which ramp will be the best solution for your lifestyle.
Measure for Length
The higher the entrance, the longer the ramp should be in order to help maintain safety and a gradual incline. For homes that have one or two steps at the entrance, a shorter, portable ramp may be the simplest solution. But, if the entrance is higher, then you will likely need a more sizable ramp system. Many vehicles used to transport assistive mobility devices are also taller and may require a longer ramp.
To calculate for ramp length:
- Measure the distance from the top step/landing to the ground (rise).
- Refer to your mobility equipment’s user guide for exact recommendations concerning acceptable usage and proper degree of incline.
- Enter the values in the EZ ACCESS Incline Calculator to determine the ramp length needed.
Select Ramp Based on Your Needs
Now that you know how much ramping is necessary to safely and easily navigate the entrance of your home, it’s time to select the right ramp.
