Angled Entry Mat vs Modular Entry Mat

Whether it’s at your front door, inside of your garage, or on your back deck, chances are every part of your home is not on the same level.

If you’re looking to reduce the risk of tripping and make it easier for mobility device users and shuffle steppers to move through your home’s doorways, EZ-ACCESS has a variety of entry ramps, mats, and plates that can help provide a smooth transition over raised thresholds.

Selecting the right accessibility products and solutions can sometimes be a daunting task. With so many options to choose from, how do you know which is best for you, for a loved one, and for your home? Today we are comparing our two rubber threshold mats to help provide you with a better idea of what each brings to the table so that you can narrow down your options.

TRANSITIONS® Angled Entry Mat

With 2 different sizes available, this rubber threshold mat can accommodate rises up to 2.5” high. Thankfully, it can easily be trimmed and/or notched to fit your unique doorway. It’s also available in two different colors to match your home.

TRANSITIONS® Modular Entry Mat

Due to its modular design, this rubber mat can be combined with risers and additional mats to reach custom heights and widths in order to meet your exact need. This rubber door ramp is incredibly versatile and its durability will ensure you’ll have a long-lasting solution.

Both of these mats serve the same purpose, however our modular mat is buildable so it can be used for higher rises, larger areas, etc. if that is what your doorways require. Below we are laying out additional facts for each style of mat to help you determine which may be a great fit for you.

Material

Both mats are made out of dense rubber, which makes them great for both indoor and outdoor use. The mats will stand up to harsh weather, yet are gentle on your indoor floor surfaces.

Height Adjustability

One way our entry ramps differ is in their range of height adjustability. Our Angled Entry Mats are available in 1.5” and 2.5” heights, but can be cut down to the exact height of your threshold to create a seamless transition. There are built in sizing guides to make this process even easier. If you are going to trim your mat, we recommend using a reciprocating saw, razor knife, or hand saw.

The Modular Entry Mats can also be cut to the exact height that is needed, however what makes these mats different is that they can be combined with our optional risers made for this product to increase their height to almost 5”.

Customization Options

If you need to customize your door threshold mat to fit a specific or special trim configuration, either rubber mat may be the best option for your space. That’s because both of the rubber mats can be notched if needed to accommodate obstacles.

If you need your door threshold mat to fit wider door frames or landing areas, this is where our Modular Entry Mat stands out. You can simply place mats side-by-side to create whatever width is needed. This doesn’t work with the Angled Entry Mats due to their beveled edges.

Installation

Installation time for the Angled Entry Mat and the Modular Entry Mat is very similar. Installing both is incredibly quick and only requires one simple step if no modifications are needed. Just set the mat in place and it’s ready to go!

Weight

Both the Angled Entry Mat and the Modular Entry Mat are rated up to 850 lbs. Because of their material make up, it is important to note that the mats themselves are weightier than our aluminum options. This allows them to stay in place rather than shifting and sliding around your porch like most flat welcome mats do.

Safety

Both mats are naturally slip-resistant due to the rubber material. This provides superior traction when walking or using mobility devices to traverse them.

Eco-friendly

These mats are manufactured from an eco-friendly, recycled rubber.

The TRANSITIONS Angled Entry Mat and the TRANSITIONS Modular Entry Mat are both great options when needing to create a smooth transition over any door seam in your home.
